THE THIMBLE STORE

We have bought antique and vintage silver jewelry since 1983 and we purchased about 30 thimbles, on a whim, when we were buying some old Muslim silver jewelry from an antiquarian dealer we work with in Old Delhi, India.

There is no hallmark on the thimbles but we are pretty sure they are made of sterling silver and probably REPLICATIONS of some older design. we did sell some of the thimbles, on eBay, a couple of years ago for over $100 for a set. The pits on the thimbles are not holes that go all the way through.  They are round and fiit the finger in the normal manner: Clare uses one for sewing.  As far as the set of thimbles are concerned I think the designs are good and unusual but probably not very rare as they were almost certainly made in bulk. The workmanship is good. If you are a dealer or a collector these thimbles are somewhat different than you normally come across in the European Market as they were designed for the European Colonial taste.
