2009 was not a good year and it was not a bad year – it was somewhat of an uninteresting year! We spent the first two weeks of February in the south – Houston, Galveston and New Orleans, had a visit from our friend Rajiv and Gunjan Jindia and family in March. Clare returned to New Orleans for a week in March and again in late April. Faith came for a weekend over Independence day in July and on the 11th, July, Bill Ross had his annual discussion group when he and I talked about Capitalism: this was the fun event of summer as it is play acting – taking on a persona and trying to get people rilled up to say what is on their mind. The big event was Olivia's summer visit in mid-July and we did our usual quick camping trip into the Rocky Mountains.
August saw our 50th wedding Anniversary and we went to the Flagstaff Restaurant on the mountain and were surprised by all of our family sitting at our table when we arrived! September saw us at our friend Dave Winkler's photographic show – it was excellent as David is an accomplished photographer. In October we headed to Houston to look after Olivia whilst Winnie and James went to Italy to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. The last week of November saw us once more in Houston.
December 19th saw our return
to New Orleans for a family X'mas party at Winnie and James' home.
The early date was because Vaughan was heading out to Africa to climb
Kilimanjaro and he wanted to be on top for New Years day. Returning
to the mountain Clare and I went to Edwards-Vail for New Year
spending a joyful time with our extended family: Ron and Mary-Beth
Neal, Megan, Katie and David and Katie's friend Jay.
I did not accomplish much in 2009: I closed down the ScienceAnd Publications business as I realized I had absolutely no interest in marketing books – too many other things simply grasped my attention.
The house got more or less finished – except for painting and a few odd and ends. Maybe will sell it an move back South - who knows what the future may bring!
I read a lot of articles and books and
planted a lot of trees. To summarize: on the whole I had the unusual
experience of having a pretty lazy time! It was a boring year! But
there are some interesting pictures attached of our wedding anniversary celebration with our children and grand-daughter.
